Chauveau Jocelyne, France

French watercolour painter and designer, Jocelyne Chauveau works and lives in Paris. She presents a diversified work because it is all forms of life that interest her, and Nature is for her an inexhaustible source of inspiration : “I never wondered if I should paint figuratively or abstractly, because abstraction is everywhere in Nature, it constitutes the substrate for my work as a painter, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, between concrete and abstract, recognizable and unrecognizable, visible and invisible. All subjects interest me, the living and the inanimate.” Whether the starting point is imaginary or given to see, the technique of watercolor has fascinated her with its suggestive power, “a kind of concentration between the idea and the gesture, between the concept and the form she gives to it”.

She studied classical drawing and obtained a master's degree in art history at Paris Sorbonne, followed by a professional literary career, and she started the practice of watercolor in the 1990s.

She became a member of the Taylor Foundation in 2006 and she is a member of the Cercle des Gobelins et des beaux-arts… She exhibits regularly at gallery 43 in Paris and participates in many watercolor fairs, biennials and other major exhibitions in France and abroad (Kobe, Québec, United States, Greece, Belgium, Lausanne, Italy, Germany), where she has been regularly distinguished for twenty years. Among other awards, she received the grand silver medal from the City of Paris and gold medal of Mérite artistique…
