Alfonso Tejada, Canada

Alfonso L. Tejada, Architect/Urban Designer, trained in Mexico and Canada a “plein air” artist, sketching and a passionate watercolour painting Instructor, lives and works in North Vancouver. His approach to painting follows two traditional methods:” a la prima” (direct watercolour), and drawing and sketching (ink, pen and conte crayon), both of which are important tools of reference when painting in “Plein Air”.  

Advocate promoter of plein air workshops and events; co-founder of the annual 2014-2020 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival’s “plein air” sessions, The Harmony Festival’s “Plein Air” competition in West Vancouver (2006-2023), The FabrianoInAcquarello and UrbinoInAquarello international events in Italy. as Canadian curator representative and organizer of the Canadian participating groups annual watercolour exhibition in Fabriano 2014 -2020, and Urbino 2014- current. Actively involved in international exhibitions of “plein air” painting in Spain, Portugal and Italy leading workshops in Mexico and Italy and participates in invitational international events and teaching in West Vancouver. 

Also Pass, Federation of Canadian Artists the board of directors second vice-president and public relations member from 2009-2015. Organizer of the 1st International invitational watercolour biennale with the Federation of Canadian ARTISTS 2013. Head of the IWS CANADA 2012-2016 organizer of the 1st Int. IWS Canada Watercolour Biennale 2016 and member of the IWS Global Board of Directors Advisory Committee. 

Currently continues his support and demos on plein air and painting adventures in the trails and streets of the Northshore in Vancouver Canada.
