Dominique Lhonoré, France

I have been practicing watercolor for twenty years. I like the transparency of this demanding medium, the freedom it provides and the power of its contrasts. Watercolor gives way to dreams, evokes without imposing, reveals without revealing. Each painting is an adventure, and changing the pigments in the water is exhilarating.

Self-taught for two years I rapidly had the chance to cross paths with talented and generous international artists who allowed me to refine my technique.

I draw my inspiration from nature, life scenes and characters. I also practice acrylic.

Painting is for me an inexhaustible passion and a great vehicle for sharing with others. I am deeply engaged in the watercolor world since 2005 as a co-foundator of  Aquarelle Reims Evénement in 2005, which I have chaired for 10 years, and Pinceaux Passion en Champagne.

I organize watercolor master classes courses since 2027, and a regular local watercolor workshop.

Born in 1948, trained as a chartered accountant and initially not part of the art world, I got into watercolor in the early 90s, by the greatest of chance, seduced by the phenomenon of pigment fusion. At the end of 1998, I deepened my experience first with Roland Palmaerts both during course sessions and during outdoor internships. I also flitted with other renowned watercolor artists in order to take stock of other ways of seeing this wonderful medium. After having essentially treated landscapes and flowers, I have devoted myself since 2014 to constructed abstraction which combines geometric rigor based on prime numbers while favoring the flexibility of forms and the evanescence of colored gradations. I wish to show, among other things, that, notwithstanding such a precise and rigorous construction, the global vision entails a difficulty in perceiving the exact reality of things.
