Jansen Chow AWS, NWS, Malaysia


Jansen Chow was born in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia in 1970. In 1991, he graduated from the Kuala Lumpur College of Fine Arts. In 1994, he was awarded a scholarship to go to the oldest art school in the United States - Art Students League of New York and studied under the greatest American watercolor master Mario Cooper. Influenced by American contemporary art's self-expression, avant-garde and daring to break through the traditional spirit, Jansen Chow's works focus on originality, which integrates expressionist geometric abstract grammar composition, romantic and intuitive emotional color, combined with acrylic The application of media and its special aesthetic style are especially rare among watercolor artists.

Jansen Chow has held 23 solo exhibitions, participated in more than 400 joint exhibitions at home and abroad, won more than 80 international awards, and was affirmed by 9 world watercolor gold medals. His works are widely collected permanently in Longyan Art Museum of China, Hakka Art Museum of China, Italian Watercolor Art Museum, Turkish Watercolor Art Museum, National Art Museum of Mexico, National Art Museum of Iraq, National Art Museum of Vietnam, National Art Museum of Malaysia, CSPWC Art Association of Canada, Fo Guang Shan of Malaysia, And private collectors at home and abroad. 

Jansen has been invited to serve as a judge for more than 30 international art exhibitions and competitions, he has also hosted watercolor and oil workshops in Italy, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia.

He is currently the international brand ambassador of Daniel Smith in watercolor and oil (USA), the international brand ambassador of Escoda (Spain), the FabrianoInAquarello - Malaysia Leader, the international signature member of American Watercolor Society (AWS), National Watercolor Society (NWS) and Louisiana Watercolor Society (LWS). He is also the curator of the 1st Malaysia International Watercolor Biennale in 2018 and the art advisor of the Malaysia International Online Juried Art Competition from 2020 to 2023.
