Karen Schaaf NWS, USA


Karen Noll Schaaf uses transparent watercolors to express the beauty of the human experience and to capture the unique life moments of her portrait subjects. 

Her most recent accolades include selection into the 2023 Watercolor USA National exhibit, the 2023 Southern Watercolor Exhibit and the 2023 Fabriano International Congress. 

An internationally award-winning artist and instructor, Schaaf has earned her signature status in the National Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Georgia Watercolor Society, and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. 

She teaches workshops around the United States and online.

Stanislaw Zoladz, Sweden

Stanislaw Zoladz, born in Poland in 1952, moved to Sweden after completing his art education at the Art Academy in Krakow in 1978. Since then he has been active as a full-time artist in Sweden.  He’s participating in many international exhibitions over the world. He has been recognised as “master of watercolours “ after years of painting and many prizes in international competitions.  Stanislaw’s words about his art:  "Nature has always been my source of inspiration, it dominates my works. In the summer I paint in the archipelago. I wait for the sun's reflections on wet rocks, catch shadows, reflections in water and paint stones under the water's surface.   My paintings do not provoke, they lack a direct message, they do not depict the present, but they should make the viewer stop and reflect. I only paint when I myself experience something that touches me and that is the feeling I want to pass on to the viewer"

Watercolor International 6 - Thessaloniki, Greece

Watercolor International 6 is the sixth edition of the Biennial of Watercolor organised in Thessaloniki, Greece. WI started as an invitational-only exhibition with a very high level of the participating artists. Lately, as there has been a great interest from more artists to have a chance to participate, we have an additional juried selection (through an Open Call).  The aim of WI is to present the best of contemporary watercolor and to promote this beautiful medium. The exhibition will open on September 26th, 2023 in Thessaloniki.  It will last till the end of October. Several events, demonstrations, workshops, sightseeing tours and more will be organised during the exhibition. Many awards, cash and art material, will be given as well. Stay tuned...

Svetlana Gankina, Russia

Svetlana Gankina was born in USSR in 1978.       Earned a master degree in architecture from a Nizhiy Novgorod State University.  Takes part in personal and group exhibitions since 2014. Took part in exhibitions in Asia, Europe and has won several awards.  Member of International Federation of Artists and National Artists’s Union of Russia since 2022.  After about 7 years of residing in Vietnam and Mongolia and learning from the local masters local techniques, started focusing on watercolour media on different types of paper and on the silk.  Common sources of inspiration include living environment, habits, culture, traditions and also nature’s reflection, small habitual details  My work “Panopticon” was created under the impression of Asia. Inspired by a beauty of iconic koi fish and their enchanting movement in the water, I couldn’t stop thinking about collective consciousness and behaviour features of animal and human species.
